Barbell Pricing for Photography Entrepreneurs: Free or Very Expensive
In today’s brave new world of photography, we are facing a conundrum — photography is cheaper and more accessible than ever. With Instagram, Facebook, Google Images, photos by themselves aren’t worth that much. The traditional ways of employment through photography in a state of upheaval.
My simple solution: barbell between very cheap (or free) and very expensive.
This is my rationale:
- It is very difficult to build a following, especially if you’re starting from ground zero. The easiest way to build a following is by giving away free things. Nobody can refuse “free”.
- Once you’ve built trust with your audience for a long time, then you can charge a lot of money for your products and services.
