I consider myself (currently) the best and the greatest blogger of all-time. Some thoughts on how to get into a deep state of flow via blogging:
How I Blog
Improve your typing speed
It is huuuugely advantageous to have a fast typing speed. Personally I am lucky — I can type faster than I can think. Thus no ‘bandwidth’ issues when it comes to blogging. According to typeracer.com, I am ‘certified’ at around 120 words per minute. If I have a reaaaaly good keyboard and I don’t have any typos, I have done around 150 words per minute.
So how do you improve your typing speed? Simple — learn how to ‘touch type’ (typing without looking at your keyboard). I did Mavis Beacon teaches typing when I was a kid (with my first computer, when I was in the 5th grade). I spent a loooooot of time on the computer as a kid growing up, so I just naturally got good at typing.
Keyboard shortcuts
The more hotkeys you know, the better. Just google ‘Common Keyboard Hotkeys’ for Mac, Finder, your laptop, your computer, blogging, etc … and use your hotkeys as much as humanly possible.
Standing desk
Put your laptop on top of some sort of standing area. It can be ghetto. Just hack it; MacGyver style:
My ghetto standing desk at home. Laptop on top of bounty paper towels. My ghetto standing desk setup at home. My ghetto standing desk at home My ghetto standing desk at home My ghetto standing desk at home. Plastic box on top of my kitchen counter. My ghetto standing desk at home My laptop and ghetto standing desk Ghetto standing desk at home
What laptop do I use?
Just get a refurbished Mac. Personally I got a maxed-out refurbished MacBook Pro (13 inch Touch Bar) which was around 1 year old (prior generation) and it has been pretty good. I am not a fan of the new keyboard, but whatever — it is plenty powerful enough and lighter and more compact. To me, the trade-off of “worse” keyboard is worth the additional power and lightness.
Blogging as publishing and self-expression
Let us consider what blogging is. Blogging is just hyper-writing.
