Ultraviolet (UV) radiation plays an important role for human health—most notably by enabling our bodies to produce vitamin D in the skin. However, it is not typically considered a “source of physiological energy†in the same sense that food or calories are. Here is how UV radiation interacts with our biology:
1. Vitamin D Synthesis
• When UV-B radiation from sunlight hits our skin, it triggers a chemical reaction that converts a precursor molecule into vitamin D.
• Vitamin D is crucial for calcium and phosphorus balance, supporting strong bones and immune function, among other roles.
2. Skin Health and Risks
• While some sun exposure is beneficial, too much UV radiation can damage skin cells, lead to sunburn, and increase the risk of skin cancer.
• The key is moderate exposure to sunlight, protecting the skin when UV levels are high.
3. Not a Direct Source of Metabolic Energy
• Physiologically, we derive most of our energy from the food we eat, via the breakdown of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins into ATP (adenosine triphosphate).
• UV rays do not directly generate ATP or “fuel†cells in the same way dietary nutrients do.
So, although UV radiation is vital for vitamin D production, calling it a direct source of “physiological energy†can be misleading. It is more precise to describe it as a necessary environmental factor that helps our bodies synthesize an essential nutrient rather than viewing it as an energy source like food.

Animal-based fabrics have been used in clothing for thousands of years, prized for their warmth, durability, and in some cases, luxury appeal. Below is an overview of the main types of animal-based textiles, their characteristics, and key considerations regarding ethics and sustainability.
1. Wool
Common Sources
• Sheep: The most common source of wool. Merino wool (from Merino sheep) is especially prized for its softness and fine fibers.
• Cashmere: Sourced from the undercoat of cashmere goats. Often known for its luxurious softness but comes at a higher price point.
• Mohair: Derived from the hair of the Angora goat. Renowned for its sheen and resilience.
• Alpaca and Llama: Soft fibers with warmth comparable to sheep’s wool, often found in South American textiles.
• Angora: Comes from Angora rabbits. Extremely soft but also controversial due to animal welfare concerns.
Key Characteristics
• Insulating and breathable: Wool fibers trap air, providing warmth yet allowing moisture to escape.
• Elasticity and resilience: Wool doesn’t wrinkle easily and can retain its shape.
• Care: Generally requires more delicate washing (often hand-wash or dry-clean).
Ethical & Sustainability Considerations
• Animal welfare: Practices like mulesing (for sheep) or inhumane handling (especially for Angora rabbits) can be controversial. Look for certifications like the Responsible Wool Standard (RWS).
• Environmental impact: Wool is a renewable resource, but land use and farming practices vary widely.
2. Silk
Source
• Silkworm cocoons (most commonly from the Bombyx mori moth).
Key Characteristics
• Lightweight and breathable: Ideal for luxury garments, scarves, and delicate apparel.
• Natural sheen: Highly prized aesthetic.
• Strength: Surprisingly strong for such a lightweight fiber.
• Care: Usually requires dry-cleaning or gentle hand-washing due to its delicate nature.
Ethical & Sustainability Considerations
• Sericulture: Traditional silk production kills the silkworm inside its cocoon. “Peace silk†or “Ahimsa silk†aims to minimize harm by allowing moths to emerge before harvesting the fibers.
• Environmental impact: Mulberry trees needed for feeding silkworms can be sustainably grown, but the process is labor-intensive. Look for certifications like Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) if available.
3. Fur
Common Sources
• Mink, fox, rabbits, chinchillas, and others.
Key Characteristics
• Insulation and softness: Fur is extremely warm and luxurious.
• Aesthetic appeal: Historically a symbol of luxury.
• Durability: With proper care, fur garments can last for many years.
Ethical & Sustainability Considerations
• Animal welfare: Fur farming often faces criticism due to cramped living conditions and inhumane killing methods. Wild fur trapping raises concerns about impact on ecosystems.
• Environmental impact: Processing fur involves chemicals for tanning and preservation.
• Alternatives: Faux fur has improved in quality but brings its own environmental issues (microplastics, synthetic materials).
4. Leather (and Suede)
Common Sources
• Cows, sheep, goats, pigs: Byproducts of the meat industry.
• Exotic leathers: Crocodile, snake, ostrich—higher-end but very controversial.
• Fish leather: Emerging alternative, made from waste byproduct of the fishing industry.
Key Characteristics
• Durability: Sturdy, long-lasting material.
• Versatility: Used for jackets, bags, shoes, belts, and more.
• Comfort: Conforms to the wearer over time.
Ethical & Sustainability Considerations
• Animal welfare: Often tied to industrial farming. Exotic leathers raise special concerns about endangered species and illegal poaching.
• Environmental impact: Tanning processes can be chemical-heavy, though vegetable-tanned and chrome-free methods are more eco-conscious.
• Certifications: The Leather Working Group (LWG) audits tanneries for environmental best practices.
5. Down and Feathers
Common Sources
• Ducks and geese: Down is the soft layer of feathers found closest to the bird’s skin, primarily from the chest region.
Key Characteristics
• Excellent insulation: Highly compressible and lightweight, used in jackets, comforters, sleeping bags, etc.
• Longevity: High-quality down can maintain loft and warmth for years if properly cared for.
Ethical & Sustainability Considerations
• Live-plucking: Highly controversial and inhumane if birds are plucked while alive.
• Responsible sourcing: Look for the Responsible Down Standard (RDS) or Global Traceable Down Standard (Global TDS).
6. Shearling
Source
• Sheepskin with the wool still attached.
Key Characteristics
• Warmth: The attached wool provides insulation, making it popular for coats, boots (like Uggs), and linings.
• Softness and comfort.
Ethical & Sustainability Considerations
• Byproduct of meat industry: Shearling typically comes from sheep that are also used for meat. Ensuring ethical farming practices is key.
• Environmental impact: Like leather, tanning processes can pose significant environmental challenges.
Moving Toward Ethical and Sustainable Use
1. Certifications & Standards
• Responsible Wool Standard (RWS): Promotes animal welfare and sustainable land management in wool supply chains.
• Responsible Down Standard (RDS) or Global TDS: Ensures birds are not live-plucked or force-fed.
• Leather Working Group (LWG): Audits tanneries and aims to reduce the environmental impact of leather production.
2. Traceability
• Brands and consumers increasingly demand transparent supply chains to ensure materials are ethically and sustainably sourced.
3. Alternatives
• Vegan leathers: Derived from materials like pineapple fibers (Piñatex), mushrooms (Mylo), or cactus.
• Plant-based or recycled “wool-likeâ€: Recycled polyester or cotton blends that mimic wool’s warmth and texture.
• Faux fur: Synthetic alternatives that replicate the look and feel of real fur, though they come with environmental trade-offs such as microplastics.
4. Buying Less, Buying Better
• One of the most sustainable practices is to purchase high-quality, long-lasting garments and accessories. Proper care and maintenance can extend the life of animal-based fabrics, reducing waste.
Conclusion
Animal-based fabrics—wool, silk, fur, leather, down, and others—each have unique properties prized by the fashion industry. They can offer warmth, durability, and luxury but also pose ethical and environmental challenges. As consumer awareness grows, responsible sourcing, transparent supply chains, and improved animal welfare standards are becoming central topics in the textile world. If you choose to wear animal-based materials, looking for relevant certifications and properly caring for your garments can help reduce environmental impact and support more humane practices.

The number of miles covered by 30,000 steps depends on your stride length. On average:
• For a person with an average stride length of 2.5 feet (common for most adults), 30,000 steps equals about 14.2 miles.
• If the stride length is shorter, such as 2.2 feet (often for shorter individuals), it equals about 12.5 miles.
• If the stride length is longer, such as 2.8 feet (for taller individuals), it equals about 15.9 miles.
Would you like help estimating your stride length for a more accurate conversion?
Predator or Prey? ALPHA ETHICS
So in life, do you desire to be predator or prey?
So this is a big thing, if you see some asshole smoking or if you’re playing at the park with your kid and you see somebody about to light up a cigarette, maybe we had the courage to ask him to not smoke here or there to ask them to smoke somewhere else. So I think this is a big thing; Almost like 100% of real life daily life, there is nothing which requires physical courage.
For example, almost never will you ever get into a physical fist fight with anybody. The only perhaps downsides you could experience or suffer is like verbal arguments, getting your blood pressure and adrenaline up etc.
In modern day society we are taught that aggression is not to be done. Almost everything in life and society trains us to be non-aggressive.
For example, all laws ethics and morality, it is like 100% towards non aggression.
Now the downside of this is that I do believe that there is some cases where acting aggressively is a virtue. If anything, I think the best way to develop yourself is to rethink and reconsider ethics morality etc. Beyond good and evil, beyond good and bad, do you think more critically about things.
Is the eagle evil? For eating the delicious lamb? No. And also this is a big thing… Does the eagle have a bad conscience about eating the lamb? Similarly speaking, no!
Yet the tricky thing is in this world, we are taught and trained that in fact, it is more virtuous to be the Lamb than the eagle.
Now this makes sense because you can’t have a bunch of eagles running the show. You can’t have a bunch of high testosterone alpha males jostling for position all the time. Society would probably collapse.
And therefore, if you think critically about this, what that then means is that you need to teach yourself to become more alpha.
Assuming that you’re an alpha male, I am. I don’t think I’ve ever met a real life human being in the flesh, who is more alpha than me. In fact my whole life ever since I was a kid, my desire and desired outcome was always to become more alpha than the rest.
For example, I think I’m pretty happy that I was born very very tall, around 5 foot 11. I have never been shy about my height. I have met people who are taller than me of course, but because I myself already feel like I am the “tall†category, this has never been an issue.
Also I suppose the gratitude of being born Korean Korean American, Asian American and states is that once again, I’ve never had some sort of inferiority complex, because all the schools I went to were mostly Asian American dominated. I was part of the dominant minority.
Also being born a man. The truth is in society, men will always be more alpha than women. Why? Physical size strength, aggressiveness and testosterone. Certainly it is a good thing to seek more equality between the sexes, in the workplace and economic opportunities etc., But when it comes down to it… Alpha wins.
America is Alpha, the US dollar is the alpha currency. There is no second best. Nobody wants a Chinese yuan, KRW or euro or British pound.
The same thing goes with metals; we only want gold. Nobody wants silver.
Also the same thing with bitcoin. Everyone wants bitcoin, nobody cares for Ethereum or anything else. I think the only thing is honestly, everybody in Ethereum community has a small dick envy of bitcoin. In 1 trillion years, Ethereum will never never never ever ever ever Supersede bitcoin. It is just not possible from a physics perspective.
So assuming that you have the best, the best capital the best stuff the best wealth etc., why would you ever trade it for the second best?
Also on the collary, isn’t also the virtuous goal to choose the second best and convert it to the first best?
So I thought there’s a very very long time ago, the basic idea is that the smart strategy is take all of your fiat currency and all of your weak ass assets and converted to the strong assets which is bitcoin.
I thought this about like four years ago, so if you were to Amazon Apple Facebook Google meadow whatever, and assuming that you converted all your income into bitcoin, you could have retired at least 10 times over.
Now what is the big issue here? We millennials we have so much economic and financial power now, yet we are all scared. Essentially we have been beaten into submission; when we were children growing up we were told that we could do anything become anything etc., but now that we have become adults, the biggest issue is that we have become complacent, weak, maybe we drive some sort of entry-level Audi, Tesla, whatever… We have pretty good salaries at a big tech company, and we no longer have a desire nor reason to invest investigate bitcoin or invest in it.
I asked my friend Marcus in Seattle this, several years ago whether people in Seattle were interested in bitcoin or crypto or not and he said no because they didn’t really have a need to know because everyone there who is already working for Microsoft is already making good money and therefore as a consequence, they don’t have a need to know.
So the way I was able to rediscover bitcoin was moving to LA, with the absurdly high cost-of-living. $3200 USD a month for rent in a two bedroom one bath nice apartment. note, when we are living in Hanoi Vietnam in 2017 we only paid $320 a month in rent. Literally, we 10’xd our expenses for living after moving to America.
The goal should be to do the exact opposite, to reduce your expenses by 10 X.
Take a leap of faith, take the risk.

Yet the tricky thing is in this world, we are taught and trained that in fact, it is more virtuous to be the Lam than the eagle.

Great stage, early stage capitalism?
Never stop reinventing yourself, never stop re-Renaissance yourself
Never lonely
.

How to become more alpha than alpha?
.
Ghetto or beautiful
Bigger ambitions greater ambitions
More thoughts
So some additional thoughts; yeah like always be outside, maximum walking and movement etc.
For example, Saigon is number one in Vietnam. Tokyo is number one, Seoul and Gangnam is number one. in America, Manhattan is number one for economics.
There can only be one cap, one head, one dominant thing.
For smartphones there is no second best. iPhone or nothing.
Also with cars and electric cars, Tesla or nothing. There’s no second best.
For maximum flex factor, Lamborghini or nothing. There is no second best.
Maybe Culver City, Los Angeles California?
For maximum luxury comfort car Rolls-Royce or nothing.
This is the ultimate optimistic thought.
.
Be, become #1
Not too much, not too little?
.
Ideal ratio

Once you got the best, sick with the best, don’t experiment with the second best?
Perhaps my joy is that I am the greatest living blogger?
The blogging goat!
how why
First, Osborne in 1988, and when I was a kid growing up, blogging first exploded when I was a teenager, and also later in high school in college.
For example, there is little doubt that I am the number 1 Greatest street photography blogger of all time. After that, I might be also than the number one greatest individual photography blogger alive. Then after that, I then believe myself to be the greatest blogger alive, The best blogger alive.
Why? There has been nobody else as materially successful as myself, nobody with as much chutzpah, talent insight wisdom and sexiness, and fun!
Certainly I know of no living blogger who has more impressive muscles than myself, and can also lift 1000 pounds.
Country to popular belief, ChatGPT, and now ChatGPT search might be the greatest boon for us individuals.
First, I thought about ChatGPT in ChatGPT search is that it is now Google on steroids. I find ChatGPT search like 1 trillion times better than Google search because it cuts through the clutter and advertisements, it is the ultimate game changer. Only reason people still use Google and Google search is that it is integrated into Safari chrome and our search engines, but, it will only be a matter of time before Apple integrates ChatGPT search directly into Safari, getting rid of Google.
What I find truly fascinating is that ChatGPT can search through huge bodies of text, and drive and extract meaning out of it quickly efficiently and intelligently.
For example, I am like 1 trillion times confident that there has been no other blogger on the planet who has posted as many blog posts as I have, nor generated that much text and information.
ChatGPT search then becomes my second brain; if I forgot whether I have written something or not, I just search it on ChatGPT and I could find it. And it is fun, because ChatGPT has already been trained on millions of character characters by ERIC KIM, it knows my voice in style, and for the most part has captured about 80% of my writing style.
For example just try it out, tell ChatGPT to write something in the voice of ERIC KIM, it knows me.
I gave away and I stopped using business cards along time ago. For a long time my new calling card became “just google me!â€
Now, the new motto is “just ChatGPT me!â€
Google can be gamed, ChatGPT cannot.
ChatGPT is like 1 trillion times ahead of anything else. Google Gemini sucks.
Maybe now, maybe I should stop trying so hard to just keep infinitely adding muscle, rather more bigger or energy strength, propensity to move and walk and carry Seneca.
Steel > Iron
I recently got these 50 kg calibrated steel weightlifting plates, I effing love them.
That’s about 110 pounds a plate, condensed into a very very relatively slim body.
If you have never lifted 110 pound plate before, or a 50 kg calibrated steel plate before, you’ll probably be very shocked on how heavy it is. And how dense it is.
So for example, steal for the most part is that Apex strong thing that we got. You make skyscraper out of steel, not iron.
Iron is certainly cheaper than steel, but steel is better and superior.
For example for a long time, when I was considering upgrading my set up for my off the grid gym, I contemplated for almost a year whether I should purchase iron plates or steel plates. I held out for almost a year, and then finally when I made a shitload of money off of microstrategy stock, about $240,000 USD from an initial seed investment of $150k (essentially I made like $240,000 of free money because I have not yet dipped into my capital investment), I decided to reward myself by buying and purchasing the 250 kg steel plates, I think each steel plate was like $300 or $350 USD each. and it is kind of insane I made that $242,000 USD in only about three months! Thank you Michael Saylor!
So I suppose the best idea and strategy is to never ever ever ever ever compromise for the second best. Hold out, save and invest for the best!
I think the only reason why we might want a second best is that everyone likes to root for the underdog. For example, when I was a kid everyone wanted a Nike but Adidas was far cheaper so I just bought Adidas. Also, everyone wanted the iPhone but I just bought an android instead.
But time tells and time shows. Even with cryptocurrency, I messed around with a bunch of stuff before I finally settled on 100% bitcoin. And this has been the winning strategy.
Even with finding the ideal life partner, I was insanely picky with women, until I found perfection in Cindy in college. With your spouse there is no second best. And looking at Seneca, I rate him as a number one greatest child of all time on the planet. I could die happy knowing that I had him.
A brand is just like a mental shortcut?
.
Capital, capital investment?
Invest for growth?
Typically we think of evil things like things which are stronger and superior to us. But if you are the most alpha, the most alpha by far, then you don’t see nothing as a threat because you know you are the most alpha!
You only call things evil things which you feel threatened by.
For example, is the eagle evil? Is the sheep virtuous?
Certainly the sheep or the Lam will think that the eagle is evil, but the eagle has no notion of good or bad evil or whatever, it just loves to devour and consume the delicious lamb!
Unlearn and delete and uninstall Confucianism, today Christian morals ethics and morality from your brain in and your soul.
I almost feel like I’m the biggest swinging alpha dick in Culver City and Los Angeles because I’m the only one who has audacity to say things in real life stuff that Hollywood actors or comedians would only say on stage or in front of the big screen?
Also, I’m like the new Arnold Schwarzenegger! Nobody has jacked muscular handsome and tall as myself, and who could walk around topless without a shirt on with zero shame?
Muscles and bitcoin; the two things you could always carry with you anywhere you go!
There is no second best location
Being next to green Spaces. Super clutch.
Maybe it is time to invest in buying some property in Culver City, assuming that I have to wait a bit, maybe wait for four years or so for my bitcoin to appreciate.
.
It is impossible to 100% always make the best decision always but everything is just like feedback, trial and error.
Life is dynamic and never changing, why would you see some sort of perfection finality when things are always changing?
The limits of luxury
Worth your time or not?

What’s the purpose of food?
I think historically, it’s been to cheaply feed the masses for minimal cost. It wasn’t optimized to feed thousands of kings.
But if you’re a king, then how should you proceed?
