American Design over German Design

Or why Lamborghinis and Porsches are for lemmings:

It is just a very expensive Volkswagen

Something that a lot of people either don’t know, or don’t want to accept: Volkswagen owns Lamborghini, Porsche, Audi, Bentley, etc.

What is a Porsche 911? A very impressive Volkswagen beetle.

What is an Audi? A very nice Volkswagen Jetta or Passat.

What is a Lamborghini? A very nice Audi.

Why I prefer American design over German design

The reason why I prefer American design, and the American ethos as this: it is more focused on reckless innovation, whereas the German model is more about timelessness and striving for gradual improvement.

For example, are there any really famous modern German entrepreneurs? I think not. Currently, the greatest living entrepreneurs we got include Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Kanye West, etc.

Nobody wants to become a German. They like the German design, but ultimately, I think most people would prefer to become an American.

What we should be grateful for the Germans for

The Bauhaus. If it weren’t for the Bauhaus movement, Apple as we know it would not exist. Jony Ive as deeply inspired by the Bauhaus design aesthetic, which in turn developed the design language for Apple.

Also, Friedrich Nietzsche. Funny enough even in his writings, he talks so much about how he distains Germans. I even think even Nietzsche’s heritage was Polish.

Other things we love about America

Arnold Schwarzenegger, and modern American bodybuilding. Tesla. Apple. Amazon. Rap music, and Yeezy sneakers.

Hollywood, Netflix, American media, American music.

Why do we prefer the exotic, or the “other”?
