JUST MAD MAX IT.

A new trend I find very fascinating is the overlanding movement. The basic idea is that you get some sort of all-terrain, four-wheel-drive car, like a Toyota 4runner, and you outfit it with outrageous objects, and embark on crazy off-road adventures.

I then asked my brother-in-law John Narciso, who is one of the leading car rim designers at wheel pros (many of the leading black rhino rim designs are his)—what is the ideal road trip car? He then told me something very interesting, just treat it like Mad Max. That is, just customize your car for it.

I kind of like the idea. That in some sort of post apocalyptic world, you just hatch together random things you find, rather than purchasing a ready-made solution for it. For example, if you do a lot of stuff in the mountains, with fog, and limited visibility, just by an insanely bright yellow light bar, and figure out how to mount it to the front of your car, regardless of what car you have. Even the Ford fusion, is a great platform and road trip car.
