AUSTERITY & ELITISM

The true privilege is via negativa:

A random turbo thought: perhaps elitism and austerity hold hand-in-hand. That is, that posterity is a sign for elitism and vice versa.

Similarly speaking, it seems that minimalism is the new elitism. That to be able to get by with less, it is a sign of wealth and independence, rather than a sign of lacking.

For example, the extremely successful and rich and independent are able to live without a smart phone. Also, it seems that the really rich people don’t even own cars. Or own homes.

When you’re really rich, it means that you don’t need to check your email, you don’t need to worry about bills, and you don’t need to worry about being productive or efficient. You could take a nap whenever you want to, sleep whenever you want to, and wake up any time you want to.

Leisure as defined as the extreme privilege of doing nothing. Via Negativa.

Even when you think about really high-end fashion brands, and luxury goods, they typically are very low-key and often don’t even have any logos. Goyard over Louis Vuitton. With the rich, if you know you know.
