Strive to shoot more dynamic compositions, like triangles.

Layers

The fun thing about shooting kids is that they’re on a different level and plane as you. Use this to your advantage — shoot layers (while they’re in their carriers or bassinets, or on the floor). Play with perspectives.

Unusual angles

Shoot photos of them from super high up or super low angles:

Macro mode

In praise of using a camera with a great macro mode (close focus to fill the frame with your kid’s eyes, face, hands, or feet) like RICOH GR III.
