Currently helping my sister Jennifer build her first computer, and reliving all these joyful memories of the past:
De-mystify the computer
My hacker ethos:
More joy in building, diagnosing and building my own things than to just buy a pre-packaged ‘ready to go’ solution.
In this sense, I’m Anti Steve Jobs; probably more Steve Wozniak. I prefer open systems which may be more shitty, but at least I got more control and the ability to think:
I can open this machine, fix and edit it and modify it to my heart delight!
Towards a more modular future?
I generally prefer modular systems which can be taken apart, edited, fixed, transformed, ‘pimped out’, or modified.
Best to have *both* a desktop PC *AND* a MacBook Laptop?
Not one or the other but both.
And once the machine turns on, the insane joy of bringing the Frankenstein to life!!!
