Something that people cannot understand:

Your artwork IS you.

Or in other words, you cannot divorce the artist from the artwork.

Better to study the psychology and personal life of an artist than their art works

An artist can only create from who they are, and from what they are. In other words:

As an artist when you create art works, you are imputing and embedding your soul and being into your art works.

Why this bias of the divorce of an artist from their art works?

The problem:

We think it is possible to admire an art work without admiring the individual artist.

Why is this? My theory:

The Judeo-Christian notion of “life after death”, or the belief in an ‘immortal soul’.
