How to Abstract Your Compositions

Take photos you find have an interesting composition and then break it down — make it more abstract, inverse it, apply color, gaussian blur, trace it, and fill it in:

  • selfie inverse
  • selfie red black

Simplify.

Create a ‘visual gist‘ of your compositions.

The tools

Use Procreate app on iPad.

I suggest:

  1. Find simple compositions
  2. Inverse your photos
  3. Apply ‘Gaussian Blur’ to your photos
  4. Use the ‘lasso’ tool to select the outlines, and then draw in the compositions.
