Anti Gasoline Cars

We are so insanely futuristic; why are we still producing, purchasing, and driving gasoline cars?

I’m borrowing a friend’s car and at the end of the day I filled up the tank. As I inserted the nozzle in the car and let the petroleum flow, I thought:

This is insanely dumb.

Gas and petroleum is a limited resource on planet Earth. We live in a hyper futuristic society with some of the most epic technologies known to man.

Why are we still using fossil fuels? From an aesthetic perspective, using gasoline and gasoline cars seems repulsive to me.

Futurism

We all grew up with the Jetsons and delighted in the thought:

One day our robot slaves will be able to do all our menial labor and work, freeing up our time, brain power and resources for further “self actualization”.

But this is insane: it’s practically 2020 and we’re still living in the stone ages! Why are we still working 40+ work weeks? Using gasoline cars? Even using film cameras?

Sustainability, eco-friendly, practical thinking

My biggest objections with gasoline cars:

It makes us modern humans seem so primitive.

What car should we drive?

Obviously electric cars. A used Nissan leaf or used BMW I3 can be bought for very cheap. For more expensive a used Tesla Model S is a good deal.

What if I want to drive a Lamborghini?

Obviously Lamborghini cars are cool. But what makes them cool? The design, the scissor doors, and the audacious brand image.

To flex, I think a Tesla Cybertruck (triple engine) will actually be far cooler.

Is it about the planet?

Space X goals

To be frank I’m bullish about the future of the Planet Earth. I think we will all be fine.

I think the question is more:

How badly polluted will the air be?

Also, America will probably be nice and clean, with all the pollution in Asia and Southeast Asia. Are we okay with this; an inequality of pollution according to economic means?

For example when I was living in Vietnam, the air pollution in Hanoi was pretty bad. All the production of goods in Vietnam is certainly taking a toll on the environment. And the wealthy can live in air freshened skyscrapers. Perhaps the future poor will have to deal with pollution, to a less extent the rich.
