It seems the notion of “lifestyle” originates from the notion of “how to arrange” your life. Not your life as an aesthetic thing.

Lifestyle: not a consumerist thing to be marketed and purchased.

How to arrange your day

How do you arrange your day? Many of us arrange our days based on work. We gotta wake up with the alarm clock to get to work on time. During the day we must be productive with work. And the night is arranged for us to “recover, rest, relax” in order for us to prepare ourselves for another day of work (the next day).

Morale:

We must arrange our lives around our work and making money.

But what if we arranged our lives according toward artistic or philosophical ends?

Enter photography lifestyle: a mode and rhythm of living in which you arrange your life around making photographic art.

How to arrange your life around photography

Basic idea:

See every opportunity as a great opportunity to make great photos.

You don’t gotta be in an extraordinary place. Consider how Homer was able to make such compelling stories (Iliad, Odyssey) using very simple language, expressions and concepts.

Discovering your muse

Muse: an external person, body, or thing which breathes inspiration into you.

For me, this is Cindy and myself.

Your muse can be your music, your kid(s), your parents, your idols, your partner, friends, etc.

Art over virtue

I care more for my art and making more art than to be “morally virtuous”. Anything which motivates me to make art is good. Anything which impedes me is bad.
