Strive to become a great individual, instead of trying to start a movement or join a movement:
There are so many artistic, literary, philosophical, political, economic, and poetic movements which have happened in history — but these are all eventually forgotten.
What lasts? The legacy of an individual.
For example, Futurism didn’t last as a movement, but Umberto Boccioni lasted. Renaissance didn’t last, but Leonardo and Raphael did.
Empires don’t last, but great conquerors and leaders are remembered (Alexander the great, Napoleon).
Why do people want to start a movement or join a movement?
Hypothesis:
- Society discourages them to become an individual.
- The individual fear of following their own heart and voice.
Why do movements and collectives die?
Lack of concentration, pressure at a point, and focus.
It is impossible for all members of a collective or a movement to share the same identical opinion. I believe with group activities, there will always be some sort of politicking and compromise between individuals.
Can an individual change and move the world?
Yes. Leverage your Archimedes lever, and you shall move the earth!
