I love Tokyo, but Kyoto is far more “livable”. Quieter, more zen. Super beautiful aesthetics (wabi-sabi), the deeper connection with nature, the zen of the Kamo river.
If you’re traveling to Japan for photography and travel, spend MORE time in Kyoto over Tokyo. Spend 80% of your time in Kyoto, and 20% of your time in Tokyo.
