How to Make Good Photos Anywhere

Of course in theory we can make good photos anywhere, but the question is this:

Is it possible for you to always remain inspired to make new photos, regardless of where you live?

I think so!

What’s the secret?

Some practical ideas:

  1. Shoot monochrome: More subject matter is interesting in monochrome. Monochrome gives you more felicity in terms of having different stuff to shoot. Color is great, but more limiting. Almost everything looks good in monochrome; not everything looks good in color.
  2. When you walk around, always have a camera around your neck or in your front pocket. In praise of RICOH GR III x ERIC KIM NECK STRAP MARK II.
  3. Just shoot it: Fulfill your own photographic curiosity by just shooting anything which even has a .0001% chance of being an interesting photo.
  4. A good photo isn’t if the photo will get lots of likes on social media. A good photo is a photo in which you look at it, and it brings a smile to your face!
  5. Shoot textures: Gritty textures, patterns, any textures are good which interest you! I prefer patina, wear and tear, and “beautiful decay”.
  6. Walk a lot: The more you walk, the more photo opportunities you will witness. Walk a lot, take a lot of walking breaks, get rid of your car, and treat your walking as your supreme leisure activity!

Never stop making new photos

At this point I care less and less about what’s a “good”photo or “bad”photo. I’m simply concerned about whether I’m inspired and motivated or not.

Never stop making new art!
