Photography Genres are Prisons

Refuse yourself to become a prisoner to your past self, your past artistic style, etc.

Who is benefitted by genres?

It seems that only compilers, historians, or art critics are benefitted by genres.

Why? The purpose of a genre is to make an artist generic and understandable/”classifiable”.

Why classify?

The nerd gains great pleasure, a feeling of superiority when they classify someone into a certain category or genre.

Useful for them, but not for us as individual artists.

I cannot be classified

I cannot and refuse to be classified. I like to do everything. I like to rap, make videos, make photos, write, blog, etc. By confining myself into a genre, I lose the ability to grow new wings.

You’re the same. Refuse to let yourself trap yourself into your own mental and artistic prison.
