Human photography essay

Closer is Better

When in doubt, get closer.

To make more interesting photos, get closer to whatever you’re photographing.

Wide angle and getting close

When I look at my most successful street portraits, they are all shot with a 28mm on RICOH GR II, in macro mode (hyper close to subjects). This gives your viewer the impression that they’re standing right next to the subjects of the photos!

Even when photographing ordinary things, get super close to whatever you’re photographing to highlight the details!
