Kettlebell Life Productivity Hack

A recent discovery:

The kettlebell is a wonderful life, art, productivity hack.

For example— a lot of us are too busy to go to the gym. Kettlebell is right there! Literally no friction to pick it up, do a few kettlebell swings (two armed or one armed), or standing bicep “rows” with it. Or grabbing it by the horns and doing bicep curls (or better yet, squat and do the bicep curls while stretching out your hips). Or hold the kettlebell with one (or two hands) and do normal body weight squats. This will get your muscles pumped— which I find is a good stimulus BEFORE I want to do creative work.

Kettlebell vs gym

I ordered a 70lb kettlebell on Amazon, and it has been a great friend and buddy. Ultimately I still prefer to do heavy “one rep max” deadlifts at the gym, but when I’m stuck in the house, the kettlebell is great. When I have a creative block, I just do a few kettlebell workouts at home, drink some more coffee, then my mind gets going again!

Based on my personal experiences, practicing kettlebell swings have strengthened my back, and increased my PR (personal record) in deadlifting.

Simple and sinister

Big thanks to Pavel for his introduction of Kettlebells to America, and my mentor Thomas Rodriguez for getting me introduced to them.

Simpler is better — give kettlebells a chance, and use it as a way to build muscle mass, stimulate your creative juices, and to have more fun when stuck at home or when too far from a gym!
