Humans like to look for patterns.

For fun, group your photos together!

For example, here are pictures from my “Only in America” series, all shot on Kodak Portra 400 35mm film.

Note because all the photos were shot with the same equipment, they have an aesthetic consistency (aesthetically they all look similar).


An idea: take your pictures and organize them into different categories. Here is a basic attempt with my pictures from the series.

In seeing the patterns in the images, and by categorizing them, you discover what themes I’m exploring with my images, and what kinds of social critiques I’m making about American society and culture:
