Life Update: Living in Saigon for the Next 2 Months!

Just flew via EVA air for 20 hours, and arrived in Saigon, and made a what’s in my bag Youtube Video.

Why Saigon?

Cindy is attending a conference in Singapore, and I’m also doing a workshop (July 21-22nd) in Singapore. Saigon is for sure my favorite city in the world: super fast WiFi, great coffee, super friendly people, and spirit of innovation is pervasive. Also, apparently 90% of Vietnamese people are optimistic about the economic future, so you see lots of positive energy, especially in the youth.

Also, there’s always new things being built and torn down, so you get the feeling that there isn’t stagnation. Compare to America, where Tyler Cowan wrote the “Complacent class” book, which suggests that America is stagnating in innovation (besides perhaps Silicon Valley).

What are you going to do there?

Anyways, while I’m here, I plan on doing more videos, making new online courses (signup for my newsletter to stay updated), cinematography analyses, poems, and more epicness! I hope to be less distracted here, and to produce even more!

What’s in my bag

  1. New THINKTANK Perception Pro backpack (bigger, better for all my new video gear)
  2. Lumix G9, 12mm f1.4 lens for photo and video
  3. Rode Boom Microphone
  4. GoPro fusion
  5. Other misc. stuff

Travel hacks:

  1. Don’t eat on the flight, to minimize jet lag.
  2. Use flight time to finally concentrate without WiFi, to read, write, produce stuff!
  3. Drink lots of black coffee and tea on the flight, and use eye mask and earplugs to take a nap when you’re tired.
  4. Schedule a taxi pickup if you have a long flight, to not hassle at the airport

Lots more epicness to come!
