Michelangelo Composition Lessons

Composition lessons from the master, Michelangelo:

1. Dynamic tension

The moment right before Adam and god is about to touch fingers. Also note they’re both facing one another, about to collide, which makes the picture suspenseful and dramatic! Like witnessing two cars about to crash into one another:

2. Curve/arabesque

Note the curve and body position of Leda and the swan:

3. Dynamic pose

Would make a good photography portrait: pose looking over your right shoulder. With your elbow bent, and your wrist touching your shoulder:

4. Circular composition and directionality
