I love how the sprocket holes creep in to the Marilyn Monroe photo.

Love all of em. thanks for sharing.

Erwitt us one of the great streettogs, but I’m pretty sure Marilyn posing in a car can’t be street photography. I’d say no more than two of the images in your selection is street. What do you think?

    • http://Sthlmstreet.com Jimmy D

      - because she’s not even posing in a car :)

Erwitt is just phenomenal. I love them all. For wall paper though, I think the dog photo would keep me laughing every day.

E.E. is my hero. He is the artist that I look up to the most. He has a gift to take pictures that makes one smile. Thanks for putting a spot light on his work.
From a BIG fan of E.E.

So bad ass. In a class of their own.

These are great, though, with the exception of the first picture, I’m not sure these qualify as “street photography.” Amazing that EE happened to catch that guy with the good umbrella leaping for joy in front of the Eiffel tower while he couple in background are consoling each other (passionately) over the misfortune of having broken umbrellas – quite a decisive moment!

    Best dog photographer around. :)

Like the pics, but are 1, 2 and 4 really street photos. Look quite posed/staged to me.
    I can be wrong though.

      Perhaps I should re-title the post ;P

Don’t bother, not important :) Pics are good

Elliott’s photos always look as if they are stage shoots.. they are so artistically done it is hard to believe that any of them could be impromptu walk-bys. Marilyn obviously isn’t unless he was on a set and happened past her relaxing. Whether they are classical street or not however– his style is something to be admired and I thoroughly enjoy his work.

It is hard to believe shot #1 was an impromptu shot, but regardless of whether they are staged or not, I still think a good photo is a good photo. I really like the last one just for the story that image is telling.

Love them all but the Marilyn shot is my fave.

I love Erwittt’s work, especially his unique way of shooting different dog characters. He’s my favorite photographer. Thanks for sharing these great images with us Eric :)

  • Andy

Erwitt is a master of the craft. One of the greatest ever, but these are not good examples of ‘street photography’ as only one of the images (drinking fountain) wasn’t a set up.

    • http://www.erickimphotography.com Eric Kim

Good point Andy– shouldove titled this differently ;P

  • Lone

I can recommend the exhibition with photos of Elliott Erwitt on International Center of Photography in New York – great photos!
