A CRITIQUE OF “SOCIAL PROOF”

OK, I’m a sociologist and I understand this well; apparently the new scheme is that in order to gain legitimacy, you gotta put all these fake social numbers, “social proof” whatever.

in today’s critical world, social proof is a trap. The more fake logos and fake numbers you got on it, it actually looks less credible.

For example with social media, numbers followers etc.… the more numbers it got, the worse it is.

For example, one of my best friends, a pretty high up guy in Facebook, he maybe has only 50 followers on Instagram or whatever, but yet one of them is Mark Zuckerberg himself! And this is also the friend who ate fried chicken with Mark on his private jet.
