Start New Memories

A problem I have been having with my Apple iCloud storage; I keep hitting the 2 TB limit. As a consequence, what I have been doing is going back to all the videos that I’ve shot and recorded and backed up to iCloud, to the Apple photos storage, the built-in one, and I just delete all of them.

For some reason, I think we have a fear of deleting our old photos, especially all of them in mass, with the fear that somehow we are “missing out“. However, maybe this carte blanche approach, a clean slate, is a good strategy to create new memories.

Similarly speaking, I might only check my email once every three or four months. And truth be told, when I went off the grid for almost 2 years in Vietnam, and didn’t check any messages, didn’t use email, didn’t check my email, I didn’t even have a phone or a phone plan, I only missed out on maybe one interesting opportunity, but even that opportunity ended up not being that interesting to me.

Therefore, when I do plan on using email, and I go back to my inbox, with my laptop, and the built-in Apple Mail app, I just select all the emails, and mass delete them, without looking at any of them. Similar speaking, whenever I go into my Gmail to clean it out, I will just select all, and just archive all. Blank slate.

Therefore, a simple thought; if you seek to create new memories, become you, advance yourself, evolve, perhaps deleting your past memories as a good idea.

Being stuck to the past is cowardly.
