Let us consider that in today’s world, the average young person would prefer to just stay at home, live in their moms basement, play World of Warcraft, watch Netflix, play video games, eat take out, work some sort of menial labor job, at $16.15 hour, etc.
Therefore, I think nowadays, there’s really no strong need to be “productive“ anymore. A simple observation I have made in Southern California Orange County is that more and more families are just living together, sharing the same household and house, and, everyone is just chipping in. For example, let us consider that with zero education, you can make $20 an hour working at In-N-Out. That is actually pretty good money. And let us consider that you live at your parents house, and you might not even be paying rent, there’s no real strong desire or motivation to be “productiveâ€.
