My confusion with the Tesla model S plaid

The whole time I thought that the car could accelerate from 0 to 60 in 1.99 seconds, just just by stepping on the gas. It doesn’t seem that this is the case. Instead, do you need to take your car to a dragstrip, activate a specific mode, then let the battery charge up for 10 minutes, and then press both the gas and the brakes at the same time. To me this makes it not worth it. Don’t get the plaid.
