In.. dependence… this means *NOT* dependent.
Interesring, because if you think about America, the declaration of independence, a life of liberty independence whatever… generally the idea is we do not want to be dependent on anything or anyone else, for the early American colonist, it was not being dependent on the British.
Let us consider the weird modern day society thing; unemployment? If you get free government checks for being unemployed… aren’t you dependent on the government?
THE STORY OF EK
As somebody who was raised poor, having a single mom, working her ass off working three jobs, cleaning houses, trying to get into childcare and learning and child development and opening up her own daycare, picking up odd jobs, working as a cashier and also as a waitress, from eight in the morning until around 10 PM at night, seven days a week, with a dad that gambled away the rent money, didn’t work, just stay at home and smoked cigarettes and watched movies, certainly there are things that was insanely useful from the government side. For example I am insanely grateful for Medicare, Medi-Cal, otherwise we cannot afford health insurance.
So … what does this mean?
What is the role in the task of the government? Simple things like make sure nobody jacks your shit, nobody burns down your house, and simple things like utilities trash removal water electricity, clean cities and paved roads, hygiene and sanitation etc.
