Do you aspire to become more of a man, or more of a machine? Or both? A hybrid?
Why this matters
The bias and the trend I am witnessing right now isn’t good. It is:
Machines are superior to (puny) flesh-based humans.
Even Elon Musk has little faith in humans and humanity, and more faith in AI and machines. I don’t think there is any good modern thinker who actually is hopeful and optimistic about humans.
Anti-machine virtues
Let us consider how we desire to become machines. We desire to be more “efficientâ€, “productiveâ€, and “rational†and “logicalâ€. We don’t want “errorâ€, and we want to be “rightâ€. Consider how science is the new religion. And it seems the bias is that science is anti-humans. If the scientists could just get of all the pesky “wasteful†humans, they might do so. And then let their AI overlord take over.
