Don’t Struggle in Your Art

LEARN FROM THE MASTERS by HAPTIC
MASTERS: First Edition Book

What is your stimulus to making pictures or art?

Where do you find photographic motivation?

One idea I got from my buddy Nietzsche is that we should make art from our OVERPOWER or our OVERFLOWING WILL and artistic vitality.

That means, be physically, mentally, and artistically strong before you make pictures.

That also means, don’t force yourself to make pictures you don’t want to make.

Photography should be effortless, like the Taoist principle of “wu-wei”— action without action. You don’t “force” a river to flow.

That means, follow your gut in photography. Click to bless your subject. Click and make pictures when you feel like it… only when you feel like it.

Don’t let nobody tell you what to photograph, how to photograph, or when to photograph. Be your own photographic master.

You are your own master

Ultimately, follow your artistic gut. You’re your own master. Never let yourself become the slave of anyone else.

That means, KILL YOUR MASTER. KILL ERIC KIM. Everything you learn from your teacher is just a tip, suggestion, or idea. Take what you like, throw away what you don’t like.

BE STRONG,
ERIC
