Shoes Street Photography

Thomas Leuthard

On Monday, I wrote an article about how to shoot street photography of shoes which got tons of great feedback. To play off of the theme, I suggested that this week’s street photography assignment was to be of shoes. I announced the weekly assignment on Facebook, and many of you submitted some amazing images. Here are the best 15 that you uploaded–congrats to everyone who made the final cut! :)

The one of Thomas Leuthard is my favorite. Shoes are really nice and the depth of field is well controlled !

Love them all but my favorite is James Haddadi’s. I keep missing these challenges on facebook. Here is what I would have offered:

Very nice photos… James Haddadi that image is wonderful.

    Hi Eric,
I like Thomas Leuthard, Beverly Komatsu, Jacek Smoter, and James Haddadi. My favorite one is Beverly Komatsu’s.
Could you please ask person who submit those pics write a little bit about the pics they took, like how they feel, and how they took it to share with everyone? This will be the best way to share and learn. I really like your blog. It’s street.

The 2 I like best are from Jacek Smoter and Toby Mason. The first has nice lighting emphasising the red shoes, and the second looks like it was done on a cross processed film on a lomo cam.

I really like the set. My personal favourite would be the first one, by Thomas and the second one, by Beverly. They both work really well for me.

Also, I think that the idea posted Thang Nguyen is a great one – let the people who are going to be featured to write a short description for the photo, either when they are submitting them to the challange, or when you have picked the best, message them and give ’em a day to answer. It would make world much easier, without leaving so much questions about all the photos around :)

My favorite is definitely James Haddadi’s image. Maybe not from a “shoe perspective”, but the entire image is just amazing!

  • Mehdi Sersab

I realy love James Haddadi’s one, i love the difference of proportions between the man’s feet and the the little girl. Cheers ;)

    aargh…missed this! :) nice work!

especially like the ones by Marcia Krause Bilyk and Toby Mason.

    waiting for the next assignment…

Definitely the first shot! The piece is very chic and reminiscent of classic fashion blogger poses and I like the depth of field shown here.

There really are a lot of really outstanding shots, but the one from Heather Buckley is probably my favorite. I like how the subject’s feet and legs frame the photo, with the background being just as interesting as what she’s actually shooting.

Can I simply just say what a comfort to discover somebody that really understands what they are talking about on the
internet. You definitely understand how to bring an issue to
light and make it important. More people need to look at this and understand this side of your story.
It’s surprising you’re not more popular given that you
    surely have the gift.
