Photography editing 101\" width=\"1180\" height=\"664\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/hc9f55TSsB8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>This is what I&#8217;ve done which has helped simplify and minimize my workflow in my photography:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/erickimphotography.com\/blog\/2017\/02\/23\/10-reasons-why-i-shoot-with-one-camera-and-one-lens\/\">One camera and one lens<\/a><\/strong>: Less friction worrying about using the &#8220;best&#8221; or &#8220;ideal\/optimal&#8221; camera and lens to shoot with. Just stick with <a href=\"http:\/\/erickimphotography.com\/blog\/ricoh\/\">RICOH GR II<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/ERIC-KIM-NECK-STRAP-Handmade\/dp\/B07B5XJZGL\/ref=sr_1_4?m=A1CPP082RBZJAC&amp;s=merchant-items&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1522393618&amp;sr=1-4\">ERIC KIM NECK STRAP<\/a> to wear the camera like my <a href=\"http:\/\/erickimphotography.com\/blog\/wear-your-camera-like-a-necklace-or-bracelet\/\">necklace<\/a>, whenever I leave the house, to just focus on shooting.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Program mode<\/strong>: I shoot all my photos in <a href=\"http:\/\/erickimphotography.com\/blog\/2016\/04\/18\/in-favor-of-p-program-mode-in-photography\/\">program (P) mode<\/a>, center point auto focus, ISO 800-1600 and simply &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/erickimphotography.com\/blog\/2017\/12\/25\/set-it-and-forget-it\/\">set it and forget it<\/a>&#8221; in terms of my technical settings. This makes me focus on shooting, composition, and timing; less worrying about the technical settings, which is a waste of mental energy.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/erickimphotography.com\/blog\/2016\/07\/14\/8-reasons-why-you-should-shoot-in-jpeg\/\">JPEG<\/a><\/strong>: I shoot <a href=\"http:\/\/erickimphotography.com\/blog\/2016\/07\/14\/8-reasons-why-you-should-shoot-in-jpeg\/\">jpeg<\/a> because it has helped hypersimplify my photographic workflow in so many ways. First of all, no need to post process photos anymore. On RICOH GR II I just use the positive film color preset with maximum contrast jpeg setting. Also shooting jpeg allows for faster image writing to my SD card, faster import into my computer, less storage space, and faster export.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Keep-ditch<\/strong>: When selecting your photos, make an easy binary decision; either keep or ditch your photos. If you like the photo, keep it. If you don&#8217;t like it, ditch it. <strong>If you&#8217;re not sure, just ditch the photo (when in doubt, throw it out).<\/strong> Or upload your photo to <a href=\"http:\/\/arsbeta.com\">arsbeta.com<\/a> to see whether others think you should keep or ditch the photo.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Upload the photo to your own website\/blog<\/strong>: Don&#8217;t upload your photos to Facebook or Instagram, share them on your own site. This will give you more power and flexibility. I just shot film, and got the lab to process and scan my photos to jpeg onto a CD. Then, I don&#8217;t need to post process any of the photos, they look good &#8220;straight out of scan&#8221;.
