\nInspiration for surrealist photography imagery from Rene Magritte, Henri Cartier-Bresson<\/a>, and Sergio Larrain<\/a>:<\/p>\n
1. Cutoff limbs<\/h2>\n

1927, the beneficial promise by Rene Magritte.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n In this painting by Rene Magritte (1927, the beneficial promise), note the surrealist technique of the woman on top of the frame looking left, and the hand in the foreground facing right.<\/p>\n
I find this image so fascinating for many reasons.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\nFirst, the shape of the circular window around the woman\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s head mirrors that of the (ball?) \u00e2\u20ac\u201d (perhaps her own hand) in the foreground is touching.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\nAlso the dynamic tension<\/a> \u00e2\u20ac\u201d the movement of her head looking left is dynamically opposed to the movement of the hand in the foreground.<\/p>\n
Why is this image interesting?<\/h3>\n
As viewers we look at this image and it puzzles us:<\/p>\n
- \n
- Who does the hand in the foreground belong to?<\/li>\n
- Is the circle in the background and the woman \u00e2\u20ac\u201dis it a mirror, or an opening?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
The charm of this picture is the disorientation of the viewer in perspective, and the minimalist imagery (the woman\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s face, the circle on top of the frame, the hand in foreground, and the ball).<\/p>\n
\nMy example that mirrors Magritte<\/h3>\n

Advertisement and my hand.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n When I saw this painting by Magritte, it reminded me of a picture I shot of a poster of a woman\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s face, and my own hand.<\/p>\n
Perhaps next time I shoot a similar photo, I should make my arm to the opposite direction from the face direction of the woman, for a more engaging image.<\/p>\n
