When I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m lacking inspiration in photography, I like to work on mini projects. Here are some ideas that I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve used, that you can use too:<\/p>\n

    1. Make photos inside your home<\/h2>\n

    Your assignment: you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re only allowed to make photos inside your home.<\/p>\n

    2. Photograph inside a bar<\/h2>\n

    When I did a Magnum Workshop in Provincetown with Constantine Manos<\/a> and David Alan Harvey<\/a>, my assignment was to do a documentary project at a local bar called \u00e2\u20ac\u0153The Old Colony\u00e2\u20ac\u009d. Chat to some of the locals at the bar, offer them a beer, and make some photos.<\/p>\n

    3. Make dramatic portraits of your friends<\/h2>\n

    Shoot with -1 or -2 exposure compensation, under fluorescent lighting, or use the flash.<\/p>\n

    4. Make portraits of people at the gym<\/h2>\n

    I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m really into powerlifting (deadlift, squat, bench) and there is a great gym in Emeryville, California called \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Team Tufunga\u00e2\u20ac\u009d. I had a hard time finding inspiration to make photos, then I thought:<\/p>\n

    \n What if I just photographed my hobbies?\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

    Therefore, I brought my RICOH GR II<\/a> to the gym, shot in RAW with ERIC KIM MONOCHROME PRESETS<\/a>, and made this mini series of some of my gym friends:<\/p>\n

    5. Photograph hands<\/h2>\n

    By only showing the hands of someone, you make them a mystery. These photos of hands are more open ended, because you wonder:<\/p>\n

    \n Who do these hands belong to, and what is their life story?\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

    6. Photograph the color blue<\/h2>\n

    In color theory<\/a>, the color blue is associated with calm, peace, water, sky, and tranquility. Shoot looking for the color blue, and make a set out of it.<\/p>\n

    The color red is symbolic of love, death, passion, anger, blood, and lust.<\/p>\n

    Red is the most powerful and bold color \u00e2\u20ac\u201d my theory is that it is because it is the same color of blood, something we as humans have evolved to beware of.<\/p>\n

    Conclusion<\/h2>\n

    Never run out of inspiration. Just keep it simple. Just keep shooting, work on mini projects, but most importantly \u00e2\u20ac\u201d have fun.<\/p>\n

    Shoot like a child, and shoot until the day you die.<\/p>\n
