If you want to become a great photographer, here are the 5 traits you need to cultivate:<\/p>\n

  1. Intuition<\/strong>: to shoot from your gut<\/a>, without self-doubt or hesitation. <\/li>\n
  2. Confidence<\/strong>: creative confidence in yourself to publish your work. Confidence to photograph strangers<\/a>. Confidence in your own artistic vision. <\/li>\n
  3. Vision<\/strong>: your unique perspective of the world. Why you are the only person who could photograph that scene the way you did. <\/li>\n
  4. Passion<\/strong>: the burning desire to make images, to uplift your soul, and inflame the creative spirit of your viewer.<\/li>\n
  5. Creativity<\/strong>: cross-pollination<\/a>, thinking outside the box (or frame), and having meaningful differentiation<\/a> between you and other photographers. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    How to cultivate the 5 traits<\/h2>\n

    1. Intuition<\/strong>: Study composition<\/a> when you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re not taking pictures. Study the work of the great master photographers from the past<\/a>, and digest their works. Also study, dissect, and analyze<\/a> your own contact sheets<\/a>, and figure out why your pictures work and don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t work. Then when you shoot on the streets, follow your gut. <\/li>\n
    2. Confidence<\/strong>: learn how to get rejected. Try the 10 no challenge<\/a>, and no longer fear being looked like a weirdo. Also, overcome self-doubt by publishing work that you consider 80% good enough<\/a>. <\/li>\n
    3. Vision<\/strong>: ask yourself \u00e2\u20ac\u201d why are my photos unique? What am I trying to say with my pictures? Do I shoot for myself, or for others, or both? Consider what you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re trying to communicate with your viewer. <\/li>\n
    4. Passion<\/strong>: shoot like a child<\/a>, without restraints. Don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t censor yourself. Shoot freely, and have fun on the streets. Shoot like a beginner<\/a>. <\/li>\n
    5. Creativity<\/strong>: don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t just study photography, study all the masters of art<\/a>. Study Picasso<\/a>, and Leonardo da Vinci<\/a>, and any artists who inspire you. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
