To succeed as a modern photographer<\/a>, you need PASSION.<\/p>\n

First of all, what is passion in the context of photography?<\/p>\n

\n Passion: a burning desire to make pictures and visual art.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

For passion, I think we all start off with it. Then as we advance in our photography, we lose our passion. The fire burns out.<\/p>\n

Why do we lose our passion?<\/h2>\n

My theory:<\/p>\n

We lose our passion, because we are told the \u00e2\u20ac\u0153rules\u00e2\u20ac\u009d of photography. We are told what to do, and not to do \u00e2\u20ac\u201d rather than following our childlike instinct for making images.<\/p>\n

My only goal as a photographer is to wake up, with the same passion and curiosity I had in my photography when I was a beginner. This is why I love beginner photographers when I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m teaching my workshops<\/a> \u00e2\u20ac\u201d their passion and enthusiasm is infectious. The more advanced photographers I know are less passionate about photography. Their mind is more closed off, and less flexible.<\/p>\n

Therefore, the secret of resparking your passion for photography is to become a beginner again.<\/p>\n

For example ask yourself the question,<\/p>\n

\n If I started photography all over again, what would I do differently, or the same?\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

For example, if I started photography all over again today \u00e2\u20ac\u201dI would be confused as fuck. There are so many damn cameras, systems, conflicting information, and no good resources on how to take better photos.<\/p>\n

Therefore, thinking like a beginner<\/a> \u00e2\u20ac\u201dit reminded me to focus on these things:<\/p>\n

  1. Focus on teaching people how to take better pictures<\/a> <\/li>\n
  2. Helping photographers navigate the fragmented camera market \u00e2\u20ac\u201d teaching them the best camera for their needs. <\/li>\n
  3. Technical Settings<\/a> <\/li>\n
  4. How to take better photos on a phone<\/a> <\/li>\n
  5. The question: \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Should I buy a DSLR?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    So you can even see \u00e2\u20ac\u201d going back to basics can help respark your creativity, and can be the chance for you to ask the fundamental questions of photography.<\/p>\n

    Another secret to keeping passionate about photography \u00e2\u20ac\u201d seek to UNLEARN<\/a> all this crap you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve learned about photography.<\/p>\n

    For example, seek to UNLEARN everything you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve learned about cameras, lenses, sensors, technical settings, and the \u00e2\u20ac\u0153rules\u00e2\u20ac\u009d of photography. Unlearn stuff about social media, and Instagram<\/a>.<\/p>\n

    Every day, I am trying to become more of a beginner, to empty my mind of concepts, and for me to keep shooting with passion, every day<\/a>, without inhibitions.<\/p>\n
