Albert Khan<\/a> was a french banker and one of the richest men in Europe at the beginning\u00c2\u00a0of the 20th\u00c2\u00a0century. He set out on an ambitious project to document the people of the world, for the people of the world. He ended up with a collection of\u00c2\u00a0roughly\u00c2\u00a072,000 color autochromes taken from 1908 – 1931.\u00c2\u00a0Because\u00c2\u00a0they are\u00c2\u00a0wet plates they were extremely hard to reproduce and share the work in its true beauty.<\/p>\n

Check out the bookhere.<\/a> There are also a couple of parts of the\u00c2\u00a0documentary\u00c2\u00a0by the BBC floating around YouTube which are\u00c2\u00a0definitely\u00c2\u00a0worth a watch.<\/p>\n
