In photography, resistance includes:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Resistance to bringing your camera everywhere you go: Solution is to use a small or light and compact camera (use a phone<\/a>, or small compact camera like RICOH GR<\/a>).<\/li>\n
  2. Resistance in photography… because of complication of making a picture. Solution: Shoot in \u00e2\u20ac\u0153p\u00e2\u20ac\u009d (program) mode<\/a>, or the simplest automatic setting. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Set it and forget it\u00e2\u20ac\u009d is our motto.<\/li>\n
  3. Perfectionism as resistance. Solution: give yourself freedom to make shitty pictures. If you take 10,000 bad pictures, you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re bound to get at least 1 good picture (law of averages).<\/li>\n
  4. Nervousness to take a picture of a stranger. Solution: Ask for permission… expecting to get rejected. In street photography, try the \u00e2\u20ac\u01535 yes, 5 no\u00e2\u20ac\u009d challenge from STREET NOTES<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  5. Not having inspiration to shoot. Solution: Treat photography like playing. A child doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t need to be \u00e2\u20ac\u0153forced\u00e2\u20ac\u009d to play… a child plays for fun. Therefore, photography must be fun for you!<\/strong><\/li>\n
  6. Resistance to taking a picture, because of the potential stress of selecting, editing, and processing the picture. Solution: shoot JPEG<\/a>, not raw. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Some assignments to try:<\/p>\n

    1. Take 1,000 pictures in a day. Over-shoot to overcome resistance. <\/li>\n
    2. Only use your phone to take pictures for a month (lock your fancy camera in the closet). <\/li>\n
    3. Shoot at least 1 roll of film a day, for a week (FILM NOTES<\/a> assignment). <\/li>\n
    4. Take pictures in your own house. Practice composition<\/a> by shooting the corner of the ceiling in your home. <\/li>\n
    5. Start a self-portrait \u00e2\u20ac\u0153selfie\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/a> project. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
