I figured, the best thing to do was to reformat it and wipe it clean, so I can have space to make new pictures, and perhaps this liberating idea of starting from scratch.<\/p>\n<p>But, I paused. I hesitated. I was scared to clean it.<\/p>\n<p>But why?<\/p>\n<p>I was not sure. Would my images be safe on \u00e2\u20ac\u0153the cloud\u00e2\u20ac\u009d? Uji, Kyoto 2017<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The thought\u00ef\u00bc\u0161 I felt that by erasing my pictures, or not having the pictures backed up&#8230; that if I lost my pictures, I would somehow lose a part of \u00e2\u20ac\u0153myself.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>In other words, <strong>my pictures are my personal memories. Why? We want to remember our trip. If we cannot remember our trip, it did not happen. We are going to outsource this memory to the camera and picture. It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s in our DNA&#8230; we have a complacency bias, or a bias against change. We want things to stay certain, and safe.
