He just saw photography as \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Instant sketches.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d In a way, we can see HCB as a failed painter, but a very successful photographer.<\/p>\n<p>HCB first saw the photo of Martin Munkacsi\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s photo of naked black boys at the beach, and was inspired that indeed, photography could be art.<\/p>\n<p>HCB says:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\n  \u00e2\u20ac\u0153In 1932, I saw a photograph by Martin Munk\u00c3\u00a1csi of three black children running into the sea and I must say that it is that very photograph which was for me the spark that set fire to fireworks. I suddenly understood that photography can fix eternity in a moment \u00e2\u20ac\u00a6. [it] made me suddenly realise that photography could reach eternity through the moment. I couldn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t believe such a thing could be caught with the camera. I said damn it, I took my camera and went out into the street.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Apparently HCB said it was, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153The only photo that inspired me.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<h2>Who inspired who?<\/h2>\n<p>To be more inspired, study the inspirations of people who inspire us.<\/p>\n<p>Bruce Gilden was inspired by Weegee and Lisette Model and Phillip Jones Griffith.<\/p>\n<p>Martin Parr and his flash macro work was inspired by Araki and his flower work.<\/p>\n<p>Daido was inspired by William Klein, for black and white gritty aesthetic.<\/p>\n<p>William Eggleston was initially inspired by Cartier-Bresson. So was Alex Webb, Ren\u00c3\u00a9 Burri, and a bunch of Magnum Photographers.<\/p>\n<h2>Human society learns by copying<\/h2>\n<p>We should copy who inspires us. Why? We all copy from somewhere.<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Mimesis\u00e2\u20ac\u009d or \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Mimetics\u00e2\u20ac\u009d is a field of knowledge that aims to show that humans learn by imitating, or miming one another. I agree.<\/p>\n<p><strong>We need to copy in order to learn art. Then, we are good enough at copying, we can create our own unique synthesis of artistic vision.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Go on Wikipedia and see who inspired your inspirations.
