1. Coffee shop project:<\/h2>\n

Spend an entire day in a coffee shop. Make photos of strangers, either with permission or without permission. The first photo I showed you in Hanoi (top of this post) was made at a coffee shop.<\/p>\n

I was sitting enjoying a black coffee, and I saw this woman coming in and out of the doors. I waited before<\/em> the decisive moment, and got this shot.<\/p>\n

Why: Being lazy can be a good thing as a photographer. Just turn off your phone, not to get distracted.<\/p>\n

2. Pomodoro street photography assignment<\/h2>\n

Set your phone to airplane mode, and set the timer for 25 minutes.<\/p>\n

Tip: Show your subject their photo on your LCD screen<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

For 25 minutes, you must shoot at least 100 photos.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Then, take a 5 minute break, and review your photos. Choose your 1 favorite photo and share it to social media.<\/p>\n

Then rinse and repeat as many times as you would like.<\/p>\n

3. Selfie project<\/h2>\n

Shoot selfies of yourself (with the front facing camera) in the streets. Find simple backgrounds, and simulate the minimalist portraits of Richard Avedon<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Why: To build your confidence being on the other<\/em> side of the camera. You can’t have the courage to shoot others, if you cannot shoot yourself.<\/p>\n

Honor thy selfie<\/a>.<\/p>\n
