Photography helps us appreciate the beauty of everyday life. Photography helps us appreciate our loved ones (who are still alive). Or death and life. It is a remember that anything we photograph is mortal, and will eventually decay, dissolve, and die.<\/p>\n<p>Photography is a reminder that the world is beautiful \u00e2\u20ac\u201d that I am joyful to be alive. To never waste a minute of my day with pettiness, anger, or bullshit. To always praise being alive, with my loved ones, and my fellow human beings.<\/p>\n<h2>3. To acquire the best cameras, to acquire the sharpest lenses, to acquire more followers, likes, money, power, and influence. I thought this would make me happy.<\/p>\n<p>But I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve realized\u00e2\u20ac\u201d happiness in life is quite simple. It isn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t a feeling\u00e2\u20ac\u201d otherwise we would just be doing heroin all the time and feeling \u00e2\u20ac\u02dchappy.\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 Rather, <strong>I see happiness as purposeful, and meaningful work \u00e2\u20ac\u201d directed towards empowering our fellow human beings.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Therefore, I have found my purpose in life through photography. My purpose isn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t to become the best photographer. Rather, to use photography as a tool to help empower others. To use photography as a tool to <a href=\"http:\/\/erickimphotography.com\/blog\/how-to-conquer-your-fears-in-photography\/\">conquer your fears<\/a>. To use photography as a tool to <a href=\"http:\/\/erickimphotography.com\/blog\/art\/\">express your inner-artist<\/a>. To see food as fuel\u00e2\u20ac\u201d that keeps us alive, in order to do more virtuous work in life. This is why I no longer drink alcohol \u00e2\u20ac\u201d I get hangovers (yeah, I don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t have the enzyme to process alcohol well) which detracts me from doing productive creative work. Not only that, but I don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t eat sugar (I get sugar crashes, which prevents me from being productive). I also have started to abstain from eating breakfast and lunch, in order to stay more productive through the day \u00e2\u20ac\u201d and I \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcbreak my fast\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 around 4:30-5pm, and enjoy a leisurely 2-3 hour dinner with Cindy or some friends\/loved ones. But during the day, I try to devote all my energy (caffeinated energy) to do personally-meaningful work.<\/p>\n<h2>5. Is it self-therapy for you?
