It is impossible to know whether others will like your photos or not.<\/p>\n

But it is easy to photograph what you like.<\/p>\n

“Interesting” is subjective<\/h2>\n

What is \u00e2\u20ac\u0153interesting\u00e2\u20ac\u009d to you won\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t be interesting to other people.<\/p>\n

For example, if you live in NYC, yellow taxi cabs aren\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t interesting to you. But it might be very interesting to European tourists.<\/p>\n

If you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re living in Tokyo, vending machines and capsule hotels aren\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t interesting\u00e2\u20ac\u201d but they are interesting to Americans.<\/p>\n

Reality is all colored through our own perception. What is \u00e2\u20ac\u0153interesting\u00e2\u20ac\u009d to us, isn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t necessarily interesting to others.<\/p>\n

You\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll never know<\/h2>\n

When it comes to photography, you can\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t predict whether others will like your photos or not. There are tons of great photographers who have never been discovered. Some who were discovered after they died (Vivian Maier<\/a>), and some who were discovered when they were really old (Saul Leiter<\/a>).<\/p>\n

But the sad reality is that you can be the world\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s best photographer\u00e2\u20ac\u201d but if you don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t have enough luck, or hustle \u00e2\u20ac\u201d nobody might know who you are.<\/p>\n

But is that okay with you?<\/p>\n

Are you okay with being the best photographer you possibly can, and photographing with all of your heart and soul, and possibly having nobody else know about you?<\/p>\n

Do you really photograph what interests you? Are you making the photos that you want to look at?<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Success\u00e2\u20ac\u009d?<\/h2>\n

The secret to becoming a \u00e2\u20ac\u0153successful\u00e2\u20ac\u009d photographer (or human being) is to follow your own heart, to not compromise, and to not<\/em> do what you don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t<\/em> want to do.<\/p>\n

So keep shooting what you like, and be patient for others to like your work.<\/p>\n

After all, would you want to photograph rainbows and cute dogs for the rest of your life \u00e2\u20ac\u201d if that meant you would gain wealth, fame, and fortune?<\/p>\n

Or would you rather be a nameless photographer, who photographs what you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re passionate about, and perhaps never be discovered?<\/p>\n

Follow your own taste<\/h2>\n
