Why is it that we compare ourselves and our photography with others?<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Why is it that social media makes photography some sort of popularity contest?<\/p>\n

Why do we judge our own self-esteem by how many \u00e2\u20ac\u02dclikes\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 and comments we get?<\/p>\n

Whose opinion matters the most?<\/h2>\n

What if we lived in a world where we never compared our photography with others? What if we decided to take a break from social media, and not<\/em> feel the need to always out-source our self-esteem?<\/p>\n

What if?<\/h2>\n

If we lived a life where we never compared our photos with others, we would (obviously) be much happier.<\/p>\n

Not only that, but it doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t even make sense to compare your photos with others.<\/p>\n

We all have different life circumstances. Some of us have children and families. Some of us are single and can travel the world like nomads, while living in hostels.<\/p>\n

How to find happiness in photography<\/h2>\n

The secret to happiness is to make the best out of your own life condition. To not desire the life of anybody else.<\/p>\n

The secret to being a great photographer is to first be happy. Then photograph. Not to try to seek happiness through photography.<\/p>\n

Take a break from social media<\/h2>\n

If you find yourself comparing yourself with other photographers, uninstall all social media apps from your phone for a month. Don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t upload any photos to social media for a month.<\/p>\n

Take a break. Judge your own photos according to your own standards. See how your self-worth will change.<\/p>\n

Without spoiling too much, I think you will find a lot more personal meaning and contentment in your life.<\/p>\n
