Creative outlet?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first thought:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Our innate desire to create.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As a photographer, you&#8217;re a creator. And what happens when we no longer create (creative impotence)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Depression, frustration at life.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thus we can also think about <a href=\"https:\/\/erickimphotography.com\/blog\/2017\/11\/19\/how-to-conquer-depression-with-photography-2\/\">photography as a way to conquer depression<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Social connection<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Also a big thing:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>If you meet up other photographers (in real life) or online \u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 you are part of a photography community.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Photography is social. One of the big reasons I love to teach <a href=\"https:\/\/erickimphotography.com\/blog\/workshops\/\">workshops<\/a> is bringing together like-minded individuals. For me, I love the idea of meeting other strettogs in real life, and being able to share the passion of life, connection and art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. The joy of open world exploration<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What is the secret behind <a href=\"https:\/\/erickimphotography.com\/blog\/2021\/11\/21\/the-secret-behind-street-photography-motivation\/\">street photography motivation<\/a>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If we think about <a href=\"https:\/\/erickimphotography.com\/blog\/2021\/11\/20\/diablo-ii-analogies-for-real-life\/\">DIABLO II<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/erickimphotography.com\/blog\/2020\/04\/24\/life-is-the-ultimate-mmorpg-massive-multiplayer-online-role-playing-game\/\">MMORPG<\/a> games in general \u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 what is it that we love?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Exploration, adventure, and &#8216;questing&#8217;.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you think about it, when you shoot street photography you are questing. Questing for people, places, and novelty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The worst world is a closed one, and a static one. We love <a href=\"https:\/\/erickimphotography.com\/blog\/2021\/11\/22\/what-do-we-want-out-of-embodied-reality\/\">embodied reality<\/a> because it is the ultimate open world exploration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In modern life, it seems <a href=\"https:\/\/erickimphotography.com\/blog\/travel\/\">travel<\/a> is the answer. But what we really want is <em>exploration<\/em>. Visual exploration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. We crave motivation?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another big thing:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>I think we want more inspiration and <a href=\"https:\/\/erickimphotography.com\/blog\/motivation\/\">motivation<\/a> when it comes to photography.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We want to get more motivated to shoot photos. But\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 we don&#8217;t have the motivation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What is the best way to re-spark your motivation for photography? Simple:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Go to a new or foreign place (with your camera)<\/li><li>Walk around the block (with your camera)<\/li><li>Go out to social places (the mall, restaurant, bar, coffee shop, etc)<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The idea:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>You must <em>FIRST GO<\/em> somewhere, <em>THEN<\/em> you will become motivated to make photos!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nobody stands at home and is suddenly motivated to make photos. You first must <em>GO SOMEWHERE<\/em>, then the photos will happen naturally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5. A more exciting, prosperous future<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/erickimphotography.com\/blog\/2017\/05\/07\/photography-is-philosophy\/\">Photography is philosophy<\/a>. Why?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Inherent in how you approach photography is how you think about the world philosophically.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For example, futurism is good insofar much as it is looking for a more optimistic and better future.
