The ephemeral is what fades, and doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t last.<\/p>\n

What fades and stays?<\/h2>\n

Everything is ephemeral to a certain degree. Fame, wealth, and power is ephemeral. Look at the power that Alexander the Great once had\u00e2\u20ac\u201d it is all mist and dust now.<\/p>\n

Relationships are ephemeral \u00e2\u20ac\u201d friends come and go, yet the experiences, love, and time together lasts forever.<\/p>\n

Possessions are ephemeral. No matter how expensive your camera, car, home, or stuff\u00e2\u20ac\u201d it will (eventually) disintegrate back into the earth.<\/p>\n

What is (less) ephemeral?<\/h2>\n

For me, I try to invest in experiences, relationships, and meaningful work.<\/p>\n

Experiences last a lifetime. Because no matter what, the memory of the experience will always live with you.<\/p>\n

Relationships last a lifetime. You can lose friends, but nobody can rob you of the good times you had with them.<\/p>\n

Doing meaningful work can last beyond your lifetime\u00e2\u20ac\u201d sharing empowering ideas, thoughts, or building organizations that will help future generations. Of course this is ephemeral to a certain point\u00e2\u20ac\u201d but I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve found that personally-meaningful work is the only thing that has empowered me.<\/p>\n
