The word \u00e2\u20ac\u0153petty\u00e2\u20ac\u009d comes from the word petit\u00e2\u20ac\u201d or small.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t let small matters bother you, upset you, or distract you.<\/p>\n

You were born for greater things. You were born for a great destiny. You are a great person. So why be bothered by the petty, the small, and the pointless?<\/p>\n

For me, I feel petty thoughts often. I get annoyed by little things that Cindy says or does. Or sometimes I feel annoyed by some comments I read online.<\/p>\n

Yet whenever this happens, I try to re-center myself, and ask myself: \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Am I being petty? Am I concerning myself with small and petty matters? Aren\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t I greater than this?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

You are bigger than that<\/h2>\n

 <\/p>\n

Be the bigger person. Don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t let pettiness distract you or detract you.<\/p>\n

Always be kind, generous, and loving.<\/p>\n

How can we\u00c2\u00a0learn how to be less petty?<\/h2>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Some ideas:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Realize that 99% of what happens in our life is not a big deal<\/strong>. Learn how to shrug it off\u00e2\u20ac\u201d imagine water slipping off the back of a duck.<\/li>\n
  2. Don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t linger<\/strong> on negative thoughts, emotions, or past actions. Learn your lesson, and move on.<\/li>\n
  3. Try to empathize for the other person<\/strong>: did someone try to deliberately hurt or annoy you? Or are they just in a really bad mental state right now, and they\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re actually trying to call you for help?<\/li>\n
  4. Ask yourself: \u00e2\u20ac\u0153If I were on my deathbed \u00e2\u20ac\u201d would this matter bother me?<\/strong>\u00e2\u20ac\u009d If not, forget and move on.<\/li>\n
  5. Wait a day<\/strong>: Whenever I feel petty about something, I generally try to wait for a day before responding, or acting. 99% of the time, pettiness fades, and I forget it. If I react to a petty thought or action, I usually end up regretting it.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Be non-small<\/h2>\n

    Don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t be petty in life. Be great, and non-small.<\/p>\n
