And what if the opposite were true?<\/p>\n<p>For example, I think these are some common \u00e2\u20ac\u0153truths\u00e2\u20ac\u009d people believe in photography:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>More megapixels = better photos<\/li>\n<li>More lenses = more creativity<\/li>\n<li>Shooting with an iPhone or smartphone is not a \u00e2\u20ac\u0153real\u00e2\u20ac\u009d camera<\/li>\n<li>Filters are \u00e2\u20ac\u0153cheating&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>You need to be on social media to become a famous photographer<\/li>\n<li>You need to upload a photo everyday<\/li>\n<li>To be a \u00e2\u20ac\u02dclegit\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 photographer, you need to publish a book, or have a big exhibition<\/li>\n<li>The more cameras, lenses, and expensive stuff you own, the happier you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll be<\/li>\n<li>Traveling will make you a better photographer<\/li>\n<li>You need to backup all your photos<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>And here are some other \u00e2\u20ac\u0153truths\u00e2\u20ac\u009d I think most people believe in life:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>More money = more happiness<\/li>\n<li>Bigger house = more happiness<\/li>\n<li>More luxurious car = more happiness<\/li>\n<li>Fewer kids = happier<\/li>\n<li>More gadgets, technology = happier and more efficient<\/li>\n<li>Bigger smartphone or screens are better<\/li>\n<li>Happiness = traveling the world<\/li>\n<li>Retirement is good<\/li>\n<li>Having \u00e2\u20ac\u0153passive income\u00e2\u20ac\u009d is the goal<\/li>\n<li>Pleasure and entertainment are \u00e2\u20ac\u0153good\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/li>\n<li>You need to eat 3x a day<\/li>\n<li>You need to check email, social media, all the time<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>All of these are wrong<\/h2>\n<p>As a thought experiment\u00e2\u20ac\u201d what if all these paradigms were false? I try to \u00e2\u20ac\u0153think opposite\u00e2\u20ac\u009d, and always ask myself, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153What if the opposite were true?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve always been a bit of a black sheep. I remember ever since I was a young kid \u00e2\u20ac\u201d I looked at what everyone else did and thought they were crazy. What a lot of other people did to me made no sense. Why did people work so hard, to earn more money, when it obviously made them more stressed out and miserable \u00e2\u20ac\u201d and they didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t even have time to spend their money.<\/p>\n<p>Why did people spend all their time accruing stuff, when it just added more clutter, stress, and complications to their lives?<\/p>\n<p>Why did people try to work more, and sleep less? Doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t everybody love sleep?<\/p>\n<h2>Listen to yourself<\/h2>\n<p>Whenever society or others tell you one thing \u00e2\u20ac\u201d always consider that the opposite might be true.<\/p>\n<p>Learn to think for yourself, and follow your own gut and intuition.<\/p>\n<p>So what are some truths that you believe in, that nobody else believes in, but you?
