What if we lived a life where the only affirmation or criticism we got was from ourselves?<\/p>\n

Dear friend,<\/p>\n

I had a thought the other day: what if we didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t care whether others praised us or not, and we only felt affirmation from ourselves?<\/p>\n

The ultimate \u00e2\u20ac\u02dczen\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 photo sharing app?<\/h2>\n

Another fun thought experiment:<\/p>\n

Would you use a social media app, in which you uploaded photos, you didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t get any \u00e2\u20ac\u0153likes\u00e2\u20ac\u009d or \u00e2\u20ac\u0153comments\u00e2\u20ac\u009d \u00e2\u20ac\u201d or couldn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t easily view your number of followers?<\/p>\n

Actually, it currently exists. VSCO has a \u00e2\u20ac\u0153social\u00e2\u20ac\u009d platform which you can upload photos to. But it doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t show you likes, views, comments, or (easily) how many followers you have.<\/p>\n

I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve been experimenting with VSCO\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s social platform \u00e2\u20ac\u201d and it is a strange feeling. I have a photo I really like, that I want to share. I then upload it to VSCO. Then I sit. Then I wait. And then nothing happens. I check my photo, and there is no \u00e2\u20ac\u0153likes\u00e2\u20ac\u009d, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153comments\u00e2\u20ac\u009d, or feedback.<\/p>\n

After doing that, I don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t feel happy, nor do I feel sad. I feel steady and tranquil. I feel \u00e2\u20ac\u0153normal.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

I then realized, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Why am I even uploading this? Am I uploading this image to share it with others? Or am I doing it to get feedback, praise, or comments from others?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

Life without feedback?<\/h2>\n

Going back to our original question \u00e2\u20ac\u201d what if we lived a life in which we didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t get feedback from others, or better yet\u00e2\u20ac\u201d what if we lived a life in which we didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t \u00e2\u20ac\u0153need\u00e2\u20ac\u009d positive affirmation from others?<\/p>\n

What if we lived a life in which when others praised us, it wouldn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t make us happier? What if we lived a life in when others criticized us, it didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t make us any more miserable?<\/p>\n

What if we lived a life where the only affirmation or criticism we got was from ourselves?<\/p>\n

Assignment: Use VSCO to upload your photos<\/h2>\n

As an experiment, try this out: go a week and only upload your photos to the VSCO mobile \u00e2\u20ac\u0153social\u00e2\u20ac\u009d platform. Download VSCO to your phone, use Dropbox or Google Drive to sync your photos from your computer to your phone, and upload your favorite photos.<\/p>\n

See how this makes you feel. Do you feel happier that your photos are \u00e2\u20ac\u0153out there\u00e2\u20ac\u009d and exist on this social platform? Do you feel that it is pointless, because you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re not getting any feedback (in terms of likes\/comments) on your photos? Or do you feel more peace and serenity, because by uploading the photos you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re curating the photos for yourself?<\/p>\n

Experiment, and think to yourself: \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Why<\/em> do I upload photos?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n
