Perhaps the purpose of art is to become more provocative. To provoke a reaction or emotional response:<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The Daido Moriyama<\/a> school<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The ‘Provoke’ notion was from Daido Moriyama<\/a> and his buddies, who wanted to create a magazine of photos that went against the traditional ‘grain’ (pun intended). That is, rather than embrace clarity, resolution and focus, they emphasized the opposite — blur, disclarity, grit, grain<\/a>, insanely high contrast photos, flash<\/a>, etc. All the things that were anti-photography at the time:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
