Something that I have thought about a long time:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Why do we have a romanticism of the past, specifically … ‘retro’ things?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
Romanticism as a sign of degeneration<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
<\/figure><\/li>
<\/figure><\/li><\/ul><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
The closest notion of ‘romanticism’ I got is from Nietzsche:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That the best was in the past, and things will never become ‘better’.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

<\/figure><\/li><\/ul><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
Why this love for the past?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
I think to find gratitude for the past is good. After all, much wisdom from the past masters. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
However this is where we go wrong:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When we think that the past is *SUPERIOR* to the present (and the future).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
